Concentrated extract of licorice. Typically home-made. A simple procedure is to half-fill a bottle with dried licorice root, then fill with vodka. Seal and store in a dark place, shaking from time to time, and tasting periodically (infusion may take 4-6 weeks). Strain and filter through cheesecloth when the infusion is delcared complete. Results may vary significantly depending on the qualities of the licorice employed.
