Proprietary lactic acid produced by the Extinct Chemical Company for the revival of Lactart drinks. Lactart was originally created by the Avery Chemical Company as an acid substitute for Acid Phosphate or citric acid and enjoyed modest success during World War I and World War II. Lactart has a clean sour flavor and little aroma. For more information, please see “Fix the Pumps” by Dary O’Neil (2009). Chemical additives is an abstract category for artificial/industrial ingredients added to mixed drinks for effect.
