Cordial Campari

26% ABVItaly

Proprietary raspberry cordial possibly available at Campari’s café as early as the 1880s, but in any case manufactured for export starting around 1904. Extremely sweet, and intended as an after dinner drink. The flavoring is from distilling an alcohol infusion of fresh raspberries, some degree of oak aging, and then sweetening. Discontinued in the 1990s. Raspberry liqueur is a generic category for liqueur with natural and/or artificial raspberry flavoring in brandy or neutral spirit base. A highly regarded brand is Chambord.
