Also known as “pluot”,“plumcot”,“gage”,“apriplums”. “Plum” refers to a wide array of fresh fruit varieties labeled as such. Typically employed as a garnish, a slice of one of several varieties of fresh, ripe plum. Also the basis for prunes, syrup, liqueur, and spirit forms used commonly in drinks. Hybrid plum/apricots are known by a variety of names such as “pluot”. These are either commercially cultivated or naturally-occuring. Coloration and flavor characteristics vary, but they all fall into the general category of commercially available plums.
