Pear is the ripe fruit of the cultivated temperate tree of the same name. Many pear species exist, but the primary cultivated pear in the West is the European pear, which is available in a wide array of varieties, including the Bartlett, Bosc, d’Anjou, etc. The primary cultivated pears in the East are the Chinese White Pear and the Asian Pear.
