Also known as “raki”. Anise arak (raki in Turkey) is generic for a range of regional middle eastern traditional distilled beverages build on a grape brandy or pomace brandy base. The flavoring is principally anise, which is introduced during distillation. Traditionally consumed with water, arak is seldom employed in mixed drinks.
