Batavia arak is a generic category for distilled Indonesian spirit of sugarcane and fermented Javanese rice. Batavia arak is the basis for Swedish Punsch. Originally produced at Batavia (modern day Jakarta) in the Dutch Colonies of Indonesia. Uncommon but excellent in cocktails.
