Snaps is generic for shot liquor consumed during a meal in Scandinavia. In Denmark, snaps almost always implies aquavit, but snaps can indicate a variety of straight and flavored liquors, some of which don’t really fit in any other category. Snaps is the Scandinavian cultural equivalent of the German schnaps.
