zubrowka

Also known as “zubrovka”,“bison grass vodka”. Zubrowka is generic for a vodka spirit infused with bison grass or flavored with a bison grass tincture. A Polish traditional spirit, typically decorated with a single blade of bison grass within the bottle. Because the bison grass in traditional zubrowka contains coumarin, (an anticoagulant) it was made illegal to import it into the U.S. in 1978, but the spirit in its original form remains widely available elsewhere. Special formulations that neutralize the coumarin have been offered in the U.S. market.
