Also known as “silver rum”. “Light rum” is generic for aged molasses-based spirit filtered of all or most of its color. Pretty much all light rum is heavily influenced by the light Cuban rums popularized by Bacardi in the early 20th Century. While some also reflect the character of the rums where they are produced, still others are so heavily filtered that they lack much character at all.
