Also known as “sugar cube”,“sugar lump”. A lump of sugar is a clump of refined sugar crystals. The precise quantity of sugar presumed to exist within “a lump” can vary, depending on context. Recent recipes will probably have the ubiquitous contemporary white sugar cube (1 tsp) in mind, whereas older recipes may have less-refined forms in mind.
