Also known as “young genever”. Jonge genever is generic for a mild-flavored “young” (as in “new”) style of dutch genever containing no more than 15% malt wine, no more than 10 grams sugar per liter, and bottled at 35% abv or more. Young genever is not typically aged and is a mid-20th Century invention intended to capitalize on the ascendent popularity of vodka.
