Don’s Mix

Don’s Mix is a simple home-made preparation used in tropical drinks. Originally one of Don the Beachcomber’s various secret house ingredients, the recipe was decoded by Jeff “Beachbum” Berry using Dick Santiago’s notebook and help from Bob Esmino, and published in his book “Sippin’ Safari” (San Jose: Club Tiki Press, 2007). ======== Combine two parts white grapefruit juice to one part cinnamon-infused sugar syrup. ======== For the cinnamon syrup, crush three cinnamon sticks and combine with one cup water and cup sugar. Heat to a simmer and simmer two minutes. Allow to cool and infuse at least two hours, then strain, bottle and refrigerate. Refrigerated, it should keep roughly a month.
