Asbach Uralt

40% ABVGermany

Also known as “German brandy”. Proprietary, well-balanced, and slightly sweet German brandy of historic pedigree and notable character. This entry pertains to the signature product, which is bottled without an age statement or other qualifications on the label: other Asbach Uralt expressions exist. Grape brandy is a generic category for brandy distilled from fermented grapes and aged in wood barrels or other vessels. Whenever the term “brandy” is used unqualified in a mixed drink recipe, aged grape brandy is what is meant, particularly Cognac and its imitators. If some other kind of brandy is intended, there will usually be additional context (e.g., “apple brandy” or “Spanish brandy”).
