clairin

40% ABVHaiti

Clairin is generic for Haitian high-proof raw minimally-aged white cane spirit—a rum of sorts. Appears in the Petion and Dessalines Cocktails, both introduced by Esquire magazine in the 1940s. The term “clarion” which appears in some recipe guides is a misspelling of clairin. Excellent as a mixer. Clairin is truly a regional product and is seldom exported. Clairin Lakay is/was a brand example.
