tom & jerry mix
Also known as “Tom & Jerry batter”. Tom & Jerry mix is generic for a bottled or homemade preparation, either alcoholic or non alcoholic, used in the construction of the drink, Tom & Jerry. Various interpretations exist. The basic procedure is to beat egg yolks until thin, spice them with cinnamon, cloves and allspice, plus a little rum. Then, you beat quite a bit of sugar. Seperately, you beat egg whites until stiff, then you fold it all together. This mixture constitutes the batter. (In the actual Tom & Jerry drink, a tablespoon of this batter is stirred into a couple ounces of brandy and a few ounces of hot milk or boiling water, and garnished with nutmeg.)
