Planteray Hogo Monsta

Also known as “hogo monster”. Technically, a Barbados rum, but at “3,178 grams per hectoliter (g/hl) of volatile substances and 2,029 g/hl of esters”, this is actually an intense rum blending component that Plantery has commercially bottled (small packaging, limited edition). Not really potable, but small quantities can be used as flavoring. Sugarcane & molasses-based spirits is an abstract category for spirits distilled from one (or more) of the following: fermented sugarcane juice, fermented sugarcane syrup—which is sugarcane juice boiled down to a syrup for storage—or sugarcane molasses. Sugarcane molasses is the principle byproduct of refining cane sugar. Many—but not all—sugar cane spirits are aged in wood to some degree.
