pebble ice
Also known as “pellet ice”. Pebble ice is mechanically produced lozenge-like nuggets of ice. In commercial food service businesses, ice making machinery is commonly configured to produce low-quality pellets of ice as quickly as possible to minimize the amount of equipment needed for high volume (but low quality) service. On the other hand, pebble ice making machinery can be configured to produce high quality pebble ice as a more consistent and attractive alternative to crushed ice. High quality pebble ice saves time and labor, eliminates the noise from made-to-order crushed ice, and provides a more consistent dilution behavior.
